Why local events matter: Invictus and Bedworth Party in the Park

A free community event can bring together people who might not otherwise meet: families, performers, voluntary groups, traders and neighbours. Bedworth Party in the Park is one example of the value of making space for the whole community.

A place for local people

Bedworth Party in the Park brings entertainment and community activity into a shared public setting. Its free-entry approach helps families take part without having to buy a ticket simply to enter the event.

The event also gives local performers, traders, charities and volunteers opportunities to participate in something larger than their individual activities.

An Invictus connection

Historical event sponsor material lists Invictus at Home and In-Compare. That establishes a recorded connection, although an appearance in a sponsor directory does not tell the complete story of what was provided.

We will only attribute specific funding, sponsorship value, equipment, volunteering or other outcomes where the original records support them.

Why the detail matters

Community stories are most helpful when they show who benefited, what help was actually given and how that contribution fitted into a bigger effort. The people who organise, perform, volunteer and support a free event deserve accurate recognition.

Save Money, Help Others, Be Proud: the values behind Invictus at Home

“Save Money, Help Others, Be Proud” was one of the messages associated with Invictus at Home in its early years. It joined a practical idea — helping people with essential services — to an ambition to make a wider contribution.

Why those words mattered

The original Invictus at Home public descriptions covered everyday services such as energy, telecommunications and insurance introductions. The message reflected an intention to make those services easier to understand while keeping community benefit in view.

Early company descriptions also mentioned an ambition to support charities linked to the Armed Forces community. Some historical material set out a target based on a percentage of profits. That was an aim stated at the time, not evidence of what was subsequently donated.

Values must be visible in action

Business values mean more when they can be linked to something real: the support given to a local event, work undertaken for a community organisation or an opportunity made available to someone who needed it.

We want the stories on this website to explain what happened, which business was involved and why it mattered, rather than simply repeating a slogan.

The story continues

Invictus at Home has developed into a group with specialist businesses. The original message remains part of its history, while each business is responsible for explaining its own services clearly and accurately.

Why the Armed Forces community is part of the Invictus story

Support for the Armed Forces community has been part of the Invictus story since the early years. It was more than a line on a website: it influenced how the original Invictus Utilities business described its purpose.

A commitment rooted in the early business

Invictus Utilities’ original company information described a business intended to help organisations with everyday services while exploring ways to support former service personnel. The stated ambition was to offer working arrangements that could accommodate people whose circumstances made a conventional schedule difficult.

Those early statements are part of our history. They describe what the business set out to achieve; they should not be confused with independently measured employment outcomes.

The Armed Forces Covenant

Historical Invictus material also records a connection with the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant is a national commitment to fair treatment for serving personnel, veterans and their families. Signing it is a commitment, not the same thing as winning an employer-recognition award.

For us, its significance is the principle behind it: recognising the skills and experiences people bring, while understanding that circumstances can differ from person to person.

Looking at our history with care

Some of the original Invictus materials also set out charitable ambitions. We distinguish these ambitions from actual donations or projects, which need records before we describe them as completed achievements.

As we recover further material from the early years, our company history will continue to reflect what we can substantiate. You can also explore our community stories.

One group, specialist businesses: finding the right people to help

Different business needs call for different expertise. Invictus at Home brings together specialist businesses while making it easier to identify the right organisation for a particular enquiry.

Choose the right specialist

Whether you need communications, utilities, comparison services, marketing or website hosting, start by finding the business responsible for that service. Each business explains its own services, availability, terms and contact arrangements.

Why clear responsibilities matter

Services differ in important ways. Comparing insurance is not the same as choosing a hosting plan or arranging business connectivity. Reading the relevant specialist information helps you understand the provider, the next steps and any terms or disclosures that apply.

Community support should mean more than putting a logo on a poster

Good community support starts with understanding what an organisation needs. A sponsor logo may show that support exists, but practical contributions and the efforts of local people matter much more.

Ask what would make a difference

Event organisers and community groups may benefit from funding, services, equipment, publicity or volunteers. The most useful contribution depends on the activity and the people delivering it.

Recognise the people doing the work

Community events and clubs depend on organisers, volunteers and participants. Businesses should recognise their contribution and avoid claiming ownership of work delivered by others.

Be specific about contributions

When describing community partnerships, explain the support actually provided and avoid promising results that cannot be demonstrated. Where figures or outcomes are shared, explain their source.

From utilities to a specialist group: how the Invictus story developed

The Invictus story did not begin as a five-brand group. It developed in stages, with different specialist areas growing around a practical business-services foundation.

2016: the starting point

Invictus Utilities Ltd was incorporated in May 2016. Invictus at Home Ltd followed in September that year. Those records provide the clearest corporate starting point for the modern group.

Utilities shaped the early proposition: practical services that businesses needed to operate. Over time, the wider proposition broadened and telecoms became an increasingly important part of the business.

Specialisation became more useful than one broad label

As the services developed, so did the need for clearer specialist identities. Telecoms and connectivity require different expertise and responsibilities from utilities. Comparison journeys need their own partner and regulatory disclosures. Hosting has its own technical support and infrastructure model. Marketing has its own creative and operational disciplines.

The current rebuild formalises that reality rather than hiding it. Invictus at Home is the group-level story; the specialist businesses own the detailed customer journeys.

History needs evidence too

The new History section is deliberately being built from verified milestones rather than memory alone. Incorporation dates, public records and reviewed project evidence are published first. Later milestones remain in review until their supporting evidence is attached.

Digital foundations matter: why hosting sits inside the wider Invictus story

Good infrastructure is usually invisible. People notice the website, the form or the customer journey — not the server, DNS records, backups and monitoring behind it. But when those foundations fail, the whole experience can fail with them.

Hosting is not just storage

Invictus Hosting provides the group's specialist route for domains, hosting and related digital infrastructure. Its current public site says the operation has provided services since early 2008, giving the hosting business a history that predates the modern Invictus at Home group.

The wider group now depends on the same principles customers do: clear ownership, reliable backups, sensible security, performance and the ability to maintain or move systems without losing control of important digital assets.

Supporting projects as well as businesses

Hosting also appears within the community portfolio. Warwickshire Valkyries Foundation project material, for example, identifies its website as hosted and managed by Invictus Hosting.

That is a useful example of how the group can work without blurring responsibilities. A community project can receive infrastructure support from Hosting while retaining its own identity, governance and story.
